I have been taking photographs for most of my life, but my serious interest in Wildlife and Wild Landscapes began when I visited Alaska where the vast landscapes and abundant wildlife opened my eyes to new possibilities for my photography.
Since that trip I have visited many exotic and extreme locations, from Svalbard in the high Arctic to Antarctica, South Georgia, the Falkland Islands in the southern hemisphere.
Warmer areas such as Botswana and Namibia, the Peruvian Amazon, the Galapagos Islands, and more recently Japan, Kamchatka and the islands that make up the 'Pacific Ring of Fire' have provided exciting opportunities to photograph the varied wildlife and landscapes that are so dramatically different to those found in the UK.
I find Wildlife and Landscape photography in the UK equally exciting and in many respects more challenging, considering the dramatic changes in the weather that you can experience within a matter of hours. The Highlands of Scotland are one of my favourite locations, where the clarity of the light can be quite stunning, even if the weather is even more unpredictable than further south.
Whether I am capturing a vast landscape or the details of a minute insect, I never cease to be amazed by what Mother Nature provides for us all.
